Title The Witches
Author Roald Dahl
Publisher Penguin Group
Borrowed from School Library
Audience P.4-6
Synopsis

The Witches is probably one of the most wide-read children’s books in the world.  The grandmother in the book was based on Roald Dahl’s mother, who was a brilliant storyteller.

As all children in the world understand and feel, witches are truly terrible creatures.  However, the witches in this famous book disguised themselves as lovely ladies.  They got any single chance to squish and squelch all the children.  How terrible!

Fortunately the two main characters, the boy and his grandmother could recognize the witches for what they were.  One fun fact about the witches is that they could smell a clean and neat child.  The dirtier the child is, the less chance the witches could smell them!  The boy and his grandmother tried to get rid of all the witches in England.  But could they really do that?  Find out more fun facts in this wonderfully told book!
